چکیده

Alkaloid profile of the aerial parts of Genista sandrasica Hartvig & Strid. (Fabaceae) growing in Turkey was studied by capillary gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS). Ten quinolizidine alkaloids were identified in the alkaloid extract of G. sandrasica. The main alkaloids were: sparteine (13.68%), Nacetylcytisine (6.48%), 13-methoxylupanine (13.12%), anagyrine (40.49%) and baptifoline (10.76%). In addition, antibacterial and antifungal activities of the alkaloid extract of G. sandrasica were tested against standard strains of the bacteria (Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Bacillus subtilis and Staphylococcus aureus) as well as the fungi (Candida albicans and Candida krusei). The alkaloid extract of G. sandrasica showed significant activity against B. subtilis and S. aureus with minimum inhibitory concentrations (MIC) of 31.25 and 62.5 μg/mL.

Identification of Alkaloid’s Profile in Ficus benjamina L. Extracts with Higher Antioxidant Power

Different classes of known alkaloid compounds were identified for the first time in leaves and barks of Ficus benjamina L. from Moraceae family. The identification of 28 alkaloids in F. benjamina leaves and 14 alkaloids in its barks was identified using chromatographic analysis as Gas Chromatography associated to Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS). This characterization analysis allows to verifying the ...

Quinolizidine alkaloid profiles of Lupinus varius orientalis, L. albus albus, L. hartwegii, and L. densiflorus.

Alkaloid profiles of two Lupinus species growing naturally in Egypt (L. albus albus [synonym L. termis], L. varius orientalis) in addition to two New World species (L. hartwegii, L. densiflorus) which were cultivated in Egypt were studied by capillary GLC and GLC-mass spectrometry with respect to quinolizidine alkaloids. Altogether 44 quinolizidine, bipiperidyl and proto-indole alkaloids were i...

Chemical Defense of Leguminosae. Are Quinolizidine Alkaloids Part of the Antimicrobial Defense System of Lupins?

Growth of 6 bacteria (Serratia marcescens, Bacillus megaterium, Bacillus subtilis, Streptococcus viridis, Micrococcus luteus, and Mycobacterium phlei) was inhibited by 50% if the growth medium contained sparteine at concentrations between 0 .5 -1 0 m M . Total growth inhibition, which was bacteriostatic in nature, was achieved at 20 m M . The growth o f 6 phytopathogenic fungi was also affected...
